Live it up close to home
Living at Trinity Hills means you’ve got a winter wonderland close at hand. You can walk to WinSport Canada Olympic Park in about 15 minutes! They’ve got all you need to make the most of winter! Enjoy carving some fresh powder as you ski or snowboard on their Winter Hill. You can also carve up the ice at the indoor skating arena. If you prefer to take your winter fun runs lying down, then the Servus Tube Park is for you! There are eight lanes of fun and a magic carpet that brings you and your tube to the top of the hill. It’s one of the largest parks of its kind in Western Canada. The tube park is open Friday through Sunday. It’s also open on Family Day and during Spring Break! What are you waiting for? You’re practically there already!
Bowness Park
Heading to Bowness Park is sure to add some bonus fun to any winter day. The park is located along the Bow River, between Stoney Trail and 85 Street N.W. Enjoy free outdoor skating on the lagoon from mid-November to mid-March, from 5 am to 11 pm daily (weather permitting). You can also skate the ice trail, a new 1.6 km track next to the Bow River. Is balancing on 2 blades not your thing? No problem! You can rent ice bikes! It’s a bicycle with the front wheel replaced with a skate, and the back wheel is balanced by skate blades on both sides! It is the easiest way to enjoy the ice. There are also cross country ski trails to take in the scenery, while you get a great workout!
Walk with the penguins at the Calgary Zoo
When was the last time you paid a visit to the Calgary Zoo? There may be no better way to celebrate winter than with a Penguin Walk. The king penguins take their royal waddle every day at 10 am, weather permitting. This year the walk is even cuter, thanks to the arrival of the zoo’s newest king penguin chick, named ‘Boudicca’. She is easy to spot, just look for the one with the fluffy down feathers. There are lots of other animals to visit after you’ve watched the penguins perambulate, including lions and tigers and bears – oh my!
