Father's Day is Sunday, June 20, 2021. Whether you're a new Dad, have a Dad or are the partner of a Dad – it's time to show some love. Here are some fun fatherly ideas to help you plan a memorable Father's Day in Calgary.

Fatherly fishing

Is Dad a fisherman? If you're angling to win his affection this year, head out for a fishing adventure in the nearby Bow River. You can cast your line without leaving town as you angle to catch some trophy-sized brown and rainbow trout. As luck would have it, June 20th is right in the peak season for fly fishing (mid May to late October). The Blue Ribbon section of the Bow is about 55 kilometers long and runs along the northeast edge of Calgary. If you don't catch anything, you can head over to the River Café, where they are known to serve fresh fish from the Bow! The fly-fishing decor there will make fishing fathers feel right at home.

Peddle power

Wanna ride bikes? If Dad is a cyclist, Trinity Hills is the place to be this Father's Day. Peskapoo Slopes regional park is practically in your backyard when you live here! There are loads of trails to explore for riders of all levels. Before you head out, be sure your bikes are in good condition with a trip to Bow Cycle – it's less than a 10-minute ride from home.

Picnic power

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. If Dad is the outdoorsy type, Father's Day is the perfect time for picnic time. Why not pack a picnic basket full of Dad's favourite foods and head over to Bowness Park for a picnic and maybe a little paddle boating in the lagoon! The park is only a 12-minute bike ride from home at Trinity Hills!

Cruisin' for culture

If Dad is a history buff, or you're looking to take in a little art and culture on Father's Day, there are lots of great museums to explore in Calgary. The Glenbow Museum is located downtown in the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. Glenbow is home to some world class historical galleries, as well as art and culture exhibitions from around the world. As of this writing, the museum is only open virtually with their #GlenbowFromHome program. Check with the museum for the latest updates before heading out.
