This year has seen many changes and challenges to how we live, work, shop and interact with others. One thing that has not changed is our access to fresh, local food that's fresh from the farm. Calgary's beloved farmers' markets are open and still serving up the best of what nature has to offer.

Calgary Farmers' Market

The Calgary Farmers' Market (510 77 Ave SE) is open year-round, from Thursday to Sunday between 9am and 5pm. There are new COVID-19 safety measures in place. Its 75+ vendors are ready, willing and able to offer the best in fresh local produce, flowers and more.

Blush Lane Organic Produce Calgary Farmers' Market

Blush Lane Organic Produce Calgary Farmers' Market is located within the Calgary Famers' Market and keeps the same hours as above. Blush Lane's COVID-19 safety precautions are available here. Blush Lane offers the best from Alberta and B.C. organic farms, including produce from Blush Lane's own organic orchard.

Crossroads Market

Since 1987, the Crossroads Market (1235 26 Ave SE) has been offering an exceptional selection of fresh produce and more from its over 150 vendors. Their essential service vendors continue to provide Calgary with the finest food and produce from Friday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm. Their COVID-19 response is available here. Many vendors are offering curbside pickup.

Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers' Market

Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers' Market (1320 5 Ave NW) is Calgary's longest-running, year-round, Alberta approved neighbourhood market. It's only a 13-minute drive from Trinity HIlls. The market is open on Wednesdays, from 3pm until 7pm. They commit to ensuring that at least 80% of their vendors sell products that they produce themselves. Many of their farmers follow organic principles but may not be certified organic. Feel free to ask the vendor about their production methods. See their COVID-19 protocols here.

Bearspaw Farmers Market

The Bearspaw Farmers Market  (25254 Nagway Rd) is hosted by the Lions Club of Bearspaw. It is only a 12-minute drive from home at Trinity Hills. The market is open from 10am until 2pm every Sunday from June 7th until October 4th. This year, all vendors are outdoors. Stalls are 2 metres apart. The number of vendors has therefore been reduced to 68, with a focus on food and plants. The artisans will be back next year.

We hope this list of Calgary's best farmers' markets helps you enjoy the best of what our city and our province have to offer.
